Deepen your personal practice, broaden your knowledge and skills, serve both Self and community. Take the next step on your path and become a Teacher. The Aquarian Teacher™ is a comprehensive, experiential program offering three progressive levels of certification:

Level One Instructor: Foundations

The KRI Level One Aquarian Teacher Training Program is a 220-hour professional certification program in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan ®. An interactive course in the theory, practice, and basic skills of a Kundalini Yoga instructor, it includes 180 hours of classroom instruction and 40 hours of independent study: service projects, a 40-day meditation, and White Tantric Yoga. Graduates of Level One earn the title of KRI Certified Instructor of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan® and fulfill the Yoga Alliance RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) 200-hour requirement.

Foundations introduces the student to the principles and practices of the self-sensory human, and explores how Kundalini Yoga and yogic lifestyle can harmonize and uplift the human experience and awaken your true potential.

There are six principle components in a Level One program:

Kriya and Meditation: The foundation of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan®

The theory and practice of Kundalini Yoga kriyas (yoga sets), asanas, and mudras. Explore the nature of the mind and its training through Kundalini Yoga meditations, mantras, and pranayam (breathing techniques).

Humanology and Philosophy: The Lifestyle of a Kundalini Yoga Teacher

The history and tradition of Kundalini Yoga, as well as the underlying philosophy behind all yogic practices. The technologies of Kundalini Yoga as they apply to healing and humanology (the science of daily living), including diet, nutrition, and relationships.

Anatomy & Physiology: Essentials of Yogic and Functional Anatomy

Traditional Western anatomy, its purpose and function, including the respiratory, nervous, immune, musculoskeletal, circulatory, endocrine, and digestive systems and their relation to the practice and teaching of yoga. Also Yogic anatomy and the energy systems of the body including the chakras, nadis, pranas and vayus, and the ten yogic bodies.

Consciousness of a Teacher: Virtues and Values of Living in the Golden Chain

The skills and techniques to become an effective instructor, including practical strategies for teaching beginners, ethical guidelines, curriculum development, and the transformational role of the teacher in developing a successful yoga practice.

The Master’s Touch: Cultivating a Connection to the Master

Connect with Yogi Bhajan through DVD classes and study.

The Practicum: Teaching from Day One

Practical experience instructing a yoga class under the supervision of a KRI Yoga Teacher Trainer, receiving written evaluation and student feedback.

TEACHER TRAINING TEAM

Regina DeWitt, E-RYT, RN, Pranic Healer Practitioner,  Owner: Prana Yoga and Healing Center: After 30 years working in the hospital  as an RN, Regina decided to take health care into a different arena.  She began the study of yoga in 1995 due to depression following the death of her remaining parent. She studied yoga in the tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar with Rodney Yee, and Richard Rosen learning and discovering alignment principles of the practice.  Yoga and the vast wisdom of the body and breath showed  an inclusive approach to overall health, wellness and spirituality.   In 2009, Regina left the hospital to open Prana Yoga and Healing Center offering classes, workshops, and teacher training.  In 2011, she began to study Kundalini Yoga through the teachings of Yogi Bhajan.  A deeper transformation began to happen as the teachings of kriyas, breath, meditation and chants enveloped her practice and life.  Kundalini Teacher Training was offered at Prana Yoga in 2015 for the first time because she wanted to share these teachings and she was a part of the graduating class.  She still maintains her RN license, in addition to E-RYT 500, and a Certified Kundalini teacher.  She is currently working on getting certified as an International Yoga Therapist.

AWTAR KAUR KHALSA, Lead Trainer, has been living, studying and teaching in Kundalini Yoga ashrams since 1972. She sat at the feet of Yogi Bhajan with a notebook, timer and camera, prompting him to remark, "she has perfect notes." She is a Lead Trainer and has taught throughout the United States and overseas.

Awtar uses generous doses of humor to inspire her students to expand. Awtar has been married over 30 years and has a daughter who is also a Kundalini Yoga Instructor. She is the director of The Kundalini Yoga Center in San Francisco and teachers prenatal and postpartum classes, Conscious Pregnancy Teacher Training and Aquarian Teacher level 1and 2 courses. She also specializes in Sikh Dharma Teachings.

UPDESH KAUR, first introduced to Kundalini yoga in 2000, was so inspired by the benefits experienced that she completed the Level One Immersion program in New Mexico becoming a certified instructor in 2001. She began working with the Aquarian Trainer Academy, an arm of the Kundalini Research Institute, as a course administrator for the first Level One Teacher Training in Clearwater, Fl in 2007. She holds a Business Management degree and spent years in corporate management and training. Updesh became a member of the Teacher Trainer Academy in 2008, a volunteer on the KRI Professional Development Committee in 2009 and a member of the Teacher Trainer Executive Council in 2010. As a trainer and yoga studio business manager, she is committed to sharing the Teachings of Yoga Bhajan and the amazing benefits of yoga to all.

SUNDER KAUR, Professional Trainer, (E-RYT 200, RYT 500) was introduced to meditation in the late 90's. Her first Kundalini yoga class was on a video and she has been hooked every since. Sunder is a Trainer in the Aquarian Training Academy, and with her degree in Pharmacy, she is able to incroporate a scientific understanding of the body into her practice and teaching. She is passionate about cooking and sharing the science and research of a whole food plant based diet. She is an Associate Trainer in the Beyond Addiction Program, a Yogic Path to Recovery. She uses the teachings of yoga an meditation to help integrate emotions. Sunder is a founder of Yoga Village and is creating her vision for a yoga community where spirit can grow. She is the mother of two sons and live in Pinellas County with sever four legged friends. 

SAT PURKH KAUR KHALSA, Professional Trainer, has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her journey with the sound current began many years ago and doesn't seem to have an end-instead it has become an infinite quest for the anahat, or unstruck sound. She is a KRI Certified Level Three Kundalini Yoga Teacher as well as a Professional Trainer in the Aquarian Trainer Academ. Sat Purkh is known for her work in Sound Mantra as well as Humanology and the Women's Teachings; in 2008 she authored Everyday Grace: The Art of Being a Woman, an introduction to the Women's Teachings of Yogi Bhajan. Sat Purkh joined the Kundalini Research Institute in 2006 and served as the Creative Director until the fall of 2013. She is a member of the Teacher Training Executive Council and currently serves as the Content Manager for the Yoga Bhajan Library of Teachings.
